SMITE TERMS
Leashing
The ability to attack a buff and drag it around the map for a certain duration before it returns to its original spawn, Doing this allows you to drag the buff to a safer location where it cant be invaded. Allows you to group multiple camps for effecient clearing.
Invader's Curse
A map wide debuff in the enemy teams jungle to punish players attempting invades before 30s in the game by reducing their MS, AS and Damage by 30%
Backdoor
Killing a structure or Titan without minions and/or in a sneaky way
Backdoor protections
Structures in SMITE have protections, these are reduced by 50% when enemy minions enter their tower radius.
Invade penalty
Reduction in Gold and XP gain for clearing Enemy jungle for the first 15 minutes, scales down as time goes on until the penalty is removed at 15 mins.
Peel
Protecting an ally from an enemy in various ways
Dive
Engaging on the Enemy backline and trying to kill them
Counter Engage
Allowing the enemy team start a fight on you and turning the fight to killing them.
Ganking
When you ambush a lane that is too far pushed up
Freezing
Freezing is when you stop clearing the wave so that the minions keep fighting in the same spot, It’s advantageous to do when behind or ahead to keep the minions where you want them for safety
Last Hitting
Getting the last hit on a minion gives you bonus gold, Used with freezing in order to get the most farm you can on a wave without clearing it fully
Lane Swap
Swapping of lanes usually duo and mid in order to get better matchups for each god OR to push your lead further once towers are down
Brusier
A name given to a build for a god that has built both power and protections
Ping Pong
Bouncing the aggression of the gold fury/Pyromancer to avoid anyone taking hits of damage
Body Blocking
Placing yourself infront of gods or abilities to stop them hitting/moving. Bodyblocking can be done for both peel to stop an enemy getting to your teammate or block an enemy in when attacking them
Rotating
Leaving a lane to a different part of the map
Baiting
Baiting is when you allow the enemy to chase/attack you in order to set up an advantage for your team usually by ambush
Splitting
Splitting is just sharing farm across the map, This is efffcient to do in smite. 2 people splitting the same farm = more than 1 person splitting farm in total
Out Of Combat Debuff
Reduces healing while out of combat (effects meditation)
CC
Crowd Control = Slow, Root, Mez, Cripple, Knockup, Knockback, Stun, AS reduction, Disarm, tremble, time dialation, banish
Kiting
In a teamfight kiting enemies means running from their engage while hitting them with the main goal being to survive over everything
Juggling
Juggling is where you switch the aggro of an objective or buff to spread out damage
Aggro
Aggro is the target off an enemy AI, it has an order based off who hits first, second and third
Split Push
Opting to push a lane, it’s minions and the towers instead of grouping for objectives. Works best from behind to cause annoyance for the enemy
Diminishing Returns
DR is the buff given to anyone CC’d. After one application of crowd control any other CC’s in the next 15s will be reduced in time stacking 3x. This is to stop a CC chain lasting too long

Tower Penalty
When a tower helps kill a creep or a jungle minion it decreases the gold you gain from it dying
Spooling
Natural 3 gold per second in conquest (different in other gamemodes)
First blood bounty
A bonus amount of gold for getting first blood
